Butyl rubber (referred to as IIR) is the fourth largest synthetic rubber (SR) in the world. It is the product of cationic polymerization of isobutene and isoprene under the action of Friedel-CraftChemicalbook catalyst. The appearance is white or light yellow crystal, odorless and tasteless, the glass conversion temperature is very low, and insoluble in ethanol and acetone.
